Programme highlights

Are you ready to launch a creative career in marketing?

Develop your marketing ideas and people skills with MIT. You will get hands-on experience with a sales and marketing project for a real business. Learn what drives consumer behaviour in the New Zealand and international markets. Develop skills in reaching and selling to specific audiences.

When you graduate, you will be ready for a range of strategic and creative marketing roles. Your career could take you to consultancy or market research, or even public relations.

Fast-track your programme of study to graduate sooner

Your work experience or previous tertiary study may count towards achieving your qualification. Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme is designed for those who already have the on-the-job skills and knowledge, but want to take their career to the next level with a qualification.

Career opportunities

Depending on your personal strengths, a Bachelor of Applied Management (Sales and Marketing) can lead to face-to-face sales roles, marketing strategy or creative work or marketing management. Your career could take you to consultancy or market research, or even public-relations roles.

Programme structure

When planning your degree, remember that not all courses are available each quarter. You must check the programme structure below, the pre-requisites, electives and availability of your chosen courses in advance.

You will need to complete 13 compulsory courses, five elective courses and the courses from your chosen major (360 credits):

Elective courses

In addition, for each major you must select five other elective courses (a total of 75 credits). If you are doing a double major you will not be able to take elective courses, you will need to take five courses from your other major.

Applicants must have successfully completed at least 42 NCEA (or equivalent) credits at Level 3 (including 14 credits in each of two subjects from the NZQA Approved Subjects for University Entrance list); and 8 credits in NCEA English Level 2 (four in reading and four in writing from the NZQA Literacy Requirements for University Entrance list) (or equivalent); and 8 credits in NCEA Mathematics Level 2 (or equivalent);?or Successfully completed at least 72 credits at NCEA (or equivalent) Level 2 including a minimum of 14 credits in each of two subjects and including 8 credits in each of reading/writing and mathematics and including 30 credits achieved at Merit or Excellence;?or Have at least 60 NZQA recognized credits at Level 5 or higher;?or Provide evidence of equivalence through practical, professional or educational experience e.g. three–five years’ full-time work experience (relevant to ICT) they can apply for entry. Evidence of literacy and numeracy will be required. MIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available. English language requirement: IELTS test: Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); PTE (Academic) score of 50.
