The purpose of the concentration in preveterinary medicine in the BS program in applied biological sciences is to prepare undergraduate students to successfully complete the admission requirements for the pursuit of an advanced degree in veterinary medicine.

The concentration curriculum emphasizes a solid foundation in biology, chemistry, physics, animal science and mathematics while offering specialized courses in veterinary medicine and opportunities for placement in internships in the field.

Career Opportunities

Career opportunities for graduates of this program may include entry into professional programs in veterinary medicine and animal health, including small- and large-animal veterinary medicine, wildlife veterinary medicine, domestic and wild animal care, education and animal biology research.
