The Bachelor of Design is creative and practical, with strong input from industry partners like Weta Workshop, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, Auckland Art Gallery, Creative New Zealand and Kate Sylvester.

As a Bachelor of Design student you have access to world-class facilities, collaborate with other art and design students, and in your final year you may be able to showcase your work at the AUT School of Art and Design festival or the AUT Rookie fashion show.

Study digital design at AUT and prepare yourself for the challenges of a career in animation, visual effects or game design.

You learn in a future-focused and studio-based teaching and learning environment, and have access to world-class facilities including our cutting-edge green screen, motion capture and virtual reality studios and high-end computer labs equipped with industry standard software.

Our staff have a wide range of creative, academic and industry experience – from Weta Digital to running indie game companies. We also have strong and long-established links with industry, and you’ll have opportunities to gain professional experience while studying.

A Tier 1 score in the National University Entrance Examination (Gaokao) at a recognised institution. English Language Requirements: IELTS score 6.0 overall with all bands 5.5 or higher; TOEFL iBT score 80; Minimum overall score of 52 in CAE prior to 2015 or a score of 169 in CAE from 2015; or a score of 50 in Pearson (PTE); or B/B+ in Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS); or grade B in GIE.
