Are you interested in studying how people communicate, ways that social structures affect communication, or how new technologies are changing human communications?

The Media and Communication Studies program focuses on the impact of media and communication in the creation of meaning, identity and social change. It emphasizes the study of media content, audiences, and institutions in their political, economic and social contexts in Canada and elsewhere.

You may study how digital technologies impact human communication in our concentration in Digital Culture.

A four-year program leading to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours degree, a 4 Year BA with Major and a three-year program leading to the BA Pass degree is offered in all four programs. In addition, the Department is involved in programs with community colleges which offer students the opportunity to earn an honours degree in Communication Studies and a college diploma or certificate.

Applicants must have Senior Secondary school credential appropriate for entry to university in your home country; academically rigorous grade 12 year; Minimum B- average (higher for some programs). Applicants who have successfully completed the IB diploma with the appropriate prerequisite subjects will be considered for admission. Students must have completed a (Grade 12) Senior High School Graduation Certificate (3 Years) plus final transcript showing Grade 12 first and second term grades. English proficiency requirements: IELTS - overall 6.5, no band below 6.0, TOEFL - overall 88, with minimum 21 on speaking and 21 on writing, MELAB - overall 85, no other part under 80, CAEL - overall 70, no other band score under 60, IELP Level 5 - Successful completion of Level 5 of the Brock Intensive English Language program.
