This programme is research-oriented. A student is required to:

  • Complete an approved programme of supervised research;
  • Present a written thesis which demonstrates an advanced level of knowledge and understanding in the candidate’s field of study and which describes and summarizes the research undertakings and findings;
  • Satisfy the Board of Examiners in an oral examination (and any other examination if deemed necessary), on matters relevant to the subject of the thesis; and
  • Comply with supervision, attendance and all coursework requirements as laid down by the respective Faculty/ School/AVA.

Ecology and Evolution of Aquatic Animals; Ecotoxicology of Heavy Metals and Persistent Organic Pollutants; Electronic/ Municipal/Pharmaceutical/Organic Waste Management; Environmental Impact Assessment; Bioremediation of Contaminated Soil and Water; Biofuel Research; Anaerobic Digestion; Composting; Environmental Impact of Diving Tourism; Carrying Capacity Study of Ecosystem; Molecular Endocrinology and Developmental Toxicology; Antitumor Drugs; Regulation of Cancer Stem Cell Growth and Differentiation; Immunopharmacology; Molecular Pharmacology of Ginseng Actions; Neurobiology; Functional Genomics and Molecular Genetics in Plant and Animal; Plant Epigenetics; Plant Defence Signaling and Stress Responses; Plant Floral Stem Cell; Mechanism of Hybrid Incompatibilities between Nematode Species; Regulation of Cell Fate Differentiation During Animal Embryogenesis; Regulation of MicroRNA Biogenesis; Microbial Ecology; Urban Environments, Microbiology and Health.

The topic of degree projects are either biotechnology or environmental science research related, with degrees awarded after satisfactory completion of a research programme demonstrating a level of originality.

Applicants should normally hold a Bachelor's degree for admission to a Taught Postgraduate degree programme; English Language Requirements: TOEFL - 550 (Paper-based), 79 (Internet-based); or IELTS (Academic): Overall Band at 6.5; or CET-6 (College English Test band 6): 450.
