What is the Course about?

Business touches almost every aspect of modern human society and careers in business are diverse and often highly paid.

Course Structure

In the Business Management (BMT) option, Year 3 students will study specialist subjects in more detail, including: Business Research Methods; Organisational Behaviour; Operations Management; Business Finance; International Business and more. Additional specialist subjects can be chosen, depending on the student’s area of interest.

If you are interested in getting a broad overview of the business environment and want to tailor a business degree to your own special requirements then this is the degree for you. With a wide variety of elective modules throughout the course, you can pursue your choice of specialisms.

Special Features:

Work Placement is an integral part of the course in Year 3.
Maximum flexibility enabling students to choose a speciality after Year 2.
Exit Awards: Higher Certificate in Business (NFQ Level 6) after Year 2 and Bachelor of Business (NFQ Level 7) after Year 3.

What follow-on study opportunities are available?

Bachelor of Business graduates (CW917) can progress into Year 4 of the Bachelor of Business (Honours), (CW908). Bachelor of Business (Honours) graduates (CW908) who achieve a minimum second-class honours degree are eligible to apply to undertake a research or taught masters at Institute of Technology Carlow, or other institutions.

Graduates will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies demanded in a modern business environment. Career opportunities include: the creative world of advertising and design; the commercial world of sales and building market share; the technological side of web design, SEO & SEM, and the analytical use of data to devise successful marketing strategies
