Foundations in the Humanities is an interdisciplinary approach to first-year studies that lets you explore the traditions of Western Civilization from three perspectives, in a fully synchronized program: History, Literature, and Philosophy. You’ll study the great events that have shaped the world, the great ideas that have changed how we think, and the great books that have defined the human experience. You?ll learn all those things you always wanted to know, and what you need to know to succeed.

Foundations in the Humanities is for motivated students who want to spend their entry-year reading, writing, thinking, and talking about important ideas, human possibilities, and universal knowledge. Above all, it?s for someone like you: someone who has high expectations of yourself and of your school, who values small classes where you know everyone’s name, and who is looking for an intensive and challenging learning experience. It’s for those who want to improve not just themselves but the world.

Careers:

This program provides a solid foundation for an undergraduate degree that could position you to go on to any number of careers: graduate school, law, policy, journalism, Canadian foreign service, politics, teaching, to name only a few.

For Ontario high school students a?minimum 79% final entrance average is required.?Averages are calculated on the top six 4U or 4M credits including English 4U. Academic transcript of Senior Secondary indicating all subjects taken and grades earned issued by the institution attended and submitted directly to Western by the issuing institution or the CDGDC. IELTS Academic is required with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0. Students must achieve a written TOEFL score of 580?or higher and a score of 4.5 on the TWE?or?a score of 85-90 on Internet Based Test (IBT)?with no section less than 20. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - A minimum overall score of 58 is required with no score less than 56.
