Lincoln University's Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Management with Honours is a one year qualification taken by students who have completed a relevant undergraduate degree. This honours year provides graduates with a coherent understanding of sport and recreation management at an advanced level. Graduates will possess an understanding of the complexity of the sport and recreation sector, and how elements such as political systems, policy bodies, the world and/or local economy and environmental change can affect individual business decisions and long term planning within the sector. They will have quantitative or qualitative analytic skills, or both, that will allow them to solve a range of both theoretical and practical problems. Graduates will be equipped with advanced research skills and capable of high-level research. High achieving graduates will be equipped to continue to PhD study.

Summary of Regulations

All of the following:
? 80 credits (4 courses) at the 600 level
? A 40 credit dissertation.

RECN 627 Advanced Sport and Recreation Management

At least one of:
SOCI 601 Social Science Research Methods (Quantitative)
SOCI 602 Social Science Research Methods (Qualitative)
Sport and Recreation Courses (one from):
RECN 604 Sport Physical Activity and Fitness
RECN 626 Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism
RECN 640 Events and Festivals: Contexts and Concepts

Students can start in
? Semester One (late February) or
? Semester Two (mid July).
There are also options for starting in summer semesters.

University Entrance through NCEA, or an approved equivalent qualification. International qualifications. GCE ‘A’ Levels A minimum of 3 results with at least 1 grade at Level C or above. (General Studies is not to be used as one of the results.). English Language Requirements: IELTS academic score of 6.0 overall, with no individual component less than 5.5; TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 60 (with at least 18 in writing); Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) and First (FCE) overall score of 169, with no individual component less than 162; Pearson Test of English (Academic) overall score of 50 with no communicative skills score less than 42; NZ Certificates in English Language (NZCEL) Level 4 (Academic Endorsement); Lincoln University English Language LU EL 65%.
