Today's educators are expected to be lifelong learners, able to adapt to global changes in education where routines and boundaries are often challenged.

You will explore the relationship between research and practice, encouraging you to analyse issues of interest to you. If you have an interest in research, but have not completed a major research project and would like to eventually progress to doctoral studies in education - this course is suited to you.

You will complete two coursework units, including a compulsory core research methods unit, and a thesis of up to 20-25,000 words. We provide a wide range of specialisations to suit your career aspirations.

There are many research areas offered in this program including; early childhood, primary and secondary education, gifted and special education, information and communication technology in education, international education, leadership and policy development, literacy studies, mathematics and science education, music education, school and organisational leadership, work and learning studies, educational and developmental psychology, counselling, mentoring and coaching, professional development studies, teaching English as a foreign or second language and sport and outdoor recreation.

This program is designed to meet the needs of educators, educational administrators, managers, policy makers and others interested or involved in learning and education within the wider educational community or working in the corporate or government sector.

Entry level 1: Duration: 2 years full-time, 4 years part-time (96 points to complete) An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, and a minimum of two years relevant employment. Entry level 2: Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete) An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline and a minimum of two years relevant employment. OR An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70. Entry level 3: Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part time (48 points to complete) An Australian bachelor degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline and a minimum of five years relevant employment. OR An Australian undergraduate honours degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a cognate discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70.
