The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is designed to prepare students for success in the commercial, non-profit and public sectors of the Canadian and global economy, while engaging in their communities.

Rather than giving you a highly theoretical “big business” degree, Mount Royal’s distinctive four-year program features experiential learning in the classroom and co-operative work experience opportunities. Once you graduate with a BBA, you’ll be prepared to hit the ground running and make your mark in the business world.

You will have the opportunity to specialize in one of four majors listed below. The General Management major allows you to focus in other fields of business as a minor. You may also use the General Management major to pursue minors in areas of study offered outside of the Bissett School of Business.

General Management is about leading groups to establish goals and achieving them efficiently and effectively. Through a combination of theory and application students will learn to develop strong business strategies and tactics, as well as techniques on how to implement them. The General Management concentration provides a platform that can be augmented with a variety of other disciplines to provide students with an edge is a specific career path.

A Future in General Management
Corporations of all sizes — in all sectors — are looking for qualified professionals with a well-rounded business education. Students who have completed a concentration in General Management have found careers in organizations all over the world, working in a wide variety of roles.

General Management offers many career opportunities:

Business Analyst — Identify business needs and serve as a liaison to service providers. Work with teams to implement solutions.

Business Systems Analyst — Define computer system parameters and decide the types of new programs needed for a business.

Management Consultant — Analyze company issues, conduct research and provide solutions. Work with a variety of different clients and organizations.

Students enrolled in the General Management major have two concentrations:

• Concentration in Social Innovation
• Concentration in Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) prepares you for graduate studies, including Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs.
