The Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology program is unique in that students are trained in both the medical laboratory and x-ray disciplines, practicing predominantly in rural communities. On completion of their training, graduates are able to perform general medical laboratory procedures, general diagnostic radiographic procedures, and electrocardiograms. Students also receive training on information systems and technology in the medical laboratory and diagnostic imaging departments.

Upon graduation, you're likely to find work in rural hospitals but may also find employment in healthcare centres and some clinics.

Successful Combined Lab and X-Ray program graduates are eligible to challenge the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists entry-to-practice certification examination to become a certified technologist. In order to practice as a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist in the province of Alberta, technologists are required to be registered with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists to obtain a license to practice.?

English language requirement: IELST (Academic Format) with the minimum band scores for each component - 6.5 in the Speaking component, 6.0 in the Reading component, 6.0 in the Listening component, 6.0 in the Writing component, TOEFL IBT (Internet Based) - 23 in the Speaking component, 20 in the Reading component, 20 in the Listening component, 20 in the Writing component.
