A B.A. in Biology Education will help you become a certified middle school and secondary teacher. As the need for STEM-educated students continues to grow, qualified science teachers are in high demand. Our Biology Education program offers extensive hands-on field experience that will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary for teaching in the 21st century.

Our B.A. in Biology Education degree fulfills all the requirements of our biology major and the New Hampshire State Department of Education Professional Standards for Teachers, which are required for certification. The curriculum encompasses biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, and secondary education courses. With this degree, you will be prepared for a variety of careers in education and the sciences, as well as ready for advanced graduate study and research.

In this program you will:

  • Become an effective educator and communicator
  • Connect theory with practice for classroom success
  • Develop your critical thinking and problem solving skills

Through a focus on experiential learning and field experience beginning your freshman year, you will build your skills, resume, and professional network. Our proximity to some of the finest school districts in our state offers excellent opportunities for internships and employment. You will gain practical experience through a semester-long student teaching assignment, which will build your confidence in the classroom as well as your resume, and further develop your skills.
