The Divinity School of Chung Chi College treasures its unique position as the only divinity school among public universities in Chinese societies and the only multi-denominational divinity school in Hong Kong. Our faculty is not united by any particular school of thought but by a shared commitment to conducting teaching and research with the highest standards of scholarship. We serve the church and society by providing various academic programs for lay Christians, ordained ministers, and scholars in Christianity and by fostering critical and constructive enquiry of significant issues from ecumenical perspectives. We believe that faith and reason should not be separated, as they both are rooted in and granted by the triune God, who is the ultimate source of truth, goodness, and beauty.

The programme of study includes basic theological studies, general education and languages; students can also opt for minor subjects. It will take at least 4 years to complete this full-time programme.

Experiential learning is equally important in one’s spiritual lessons. To strengthen theology students’ cultural awareness and broaden their horizons, overseas study tours have been established since 2011 with collaborating international theological seminaries. Local church visits are arranged twice a year to let the students see up close the practices of different denominations in Hong Kong. Regular prison visits are also arranged to equip students with skills necessary to engage in pastoral work in the contemporary context.

For applicants who have completed only the first year of IB Diploma studies with outstanding results, may be considered admission under special circumstances on individual merits case-by-case. Mature applicants should be aged 23 or above on 1 September in the year in which admission is sought, provided they are able to show either by publication or by other acceptable evidence that they have achieved sufficient competence in their chosen field of study to justify admission; or have shown exceptional ability in appropriate academic or professional fields.
