The programme is designed to cultivate a global mindset and equip students with knowledge on both local and international media landscapes. It also provides practical training on multilingual and multicultural competencies and professional skills in journalism and creative media in the global context.

PROGRAMME CURRICULUM

Elective Social Science Faculty Package courses

- Introduction to global communication

- Mass communication theories

- Global affairs and public issues

- Resident study at the University of Sussex, the United Kingdom for one year

- Intercultural communication

- Field study I & II

- Senior research project

PROGRAMME HIGHLIGHTS

? Built on the collaboration with the School of Media, Film and Music, the University of Sussex, the United Kingdom

? Equip students with professional knowledge, unique international learning exposure and global mindset by exchange studies in the United Kingdom for one year

? Courses will examine the complex nature, processes and impact of globalisation on media and the innovations associated with the development of new modes of communication in a transversal approach to media studies, journalism, cultural studies, global media management, cross-cultural communication, etc.

? Study trips and media agency visits to major cities in Asia and Europe will be organised to enable students to apply theory to practice

CAREER PROSPECTS

Graduates can pur sue careers in multinational corporations, transnational news organisations, global advertising and public relations agencies, new media organisations, government and non-profit organisations. Graduates can also pursue postgraduate studies in the area of global communication, media studies and related fields.

For applicants who have completed only the first year of IB Diploma studies with outstanding results, may be considered admission under special circumstances on individual merits case-by-case. Mature applicants should be aged 23 or above on 1 September in the year in which admission is sought, provided they are able to show either by publication or by other acceptable evidence that they have achieved sufficient competence in their chosen field of study to justify admission; or have shown exceptional ability in appropriate academic or professional fields. English Language Requirements: IELTS: 6.0; TOEFL (iBT): 80; SAT Reasoning Test (Old): Essay - 8; SAT (New) Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: 590; ACT combined English/ Writing or English Language Arts (ELA): 23; GCSE/ IGCSE/ GCE-OL: C; GCE-AL/AS: E; IB: 4; HKDSE: Level 3; HKALE/ HKCEE: E/Level 2; Australian State or Territory High School Certificate Grade 12 English: 80%; Canadian Grade 12 English: 70%; Indian Central or State Board Exam Grade 12 English: 80%; Malaysian UEC-Senior English Language: B4; Singapore GCE A-Level H1 General Paper: C.
