Learn about the culture, history, and mythology of the ancient Greek and Roman World, explore world religions in a comparative context, and investigate the history and material culture of the ancient Near East and ancient Egypt.

Investigate the history, languages, beliefs, and people of the ancient Mediterranean and Europe, their historical reception, and modern significance. You’ll have the option to specialize in Classical Studies, Near Eastern Studies and Egyptology, Religious Studies, Classics, or Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology. In each specialization, you have opportunities to delve into the literature, history, beliefs, and material culture of ancient Mediterranean civilizations from Babylon to Rome.

Classical Studies: The study of archaeology, history, and/or literature of the Greek and Roman worlds.

Near Eastern Studies and Egyptology: The study of the archaeology, history, and languages of Egypt and the Near East.

Religious Studies: The study of the texts and traditions of the Ancient Near East, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Classics: The study of Greek and Latin language and literature.

Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology: The study of the material culture and major sites of Greece, Rome, and the Near East in the context of the history and societies that produced them.
