Creativity drives culture. We are a community of professional artists, designers, scholars, and students who look at visual ways of creating. Within a variety of interdisciplinary historical, critical, and theoretical contexts, we explore how visual art and design practices can be used to create and critique culture. Our program empowers students to become creative leaders who are able to adapt and innovate in our rapidly changing world.

OUR PROGRAM

As a student of Art + Design at TWU, you will receive one-on-one mentorship within a supportive and challenging creative community. You will be encouraged to take risks, think critically, and explore intersections between faith and art. Grounded within a liberal arts core, this program offers visual foundations, digital design, art history, theory, and studio practices such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and intermediary installations.

Exhibitions on and off-campus, including solo exhibitions for Honors students

Studio classrooms, digital design lab, and dedicated senior studio space

AFTER GRADUATION

TWU’s Art + Design alumni have been accepted into prestigious graduate programs across North America and around the world. Many graduates have gone directly into art and design careers, flourishing in diverse contexts such as art history, education, architecture, graphic design, marketing, faith-based ministries, and gallery administration.

Students must have standing in five subjects of which at least two must be taken at the Advanced level. Students may be eligible for three semester hours of credit for each Advanced level course completed to a maximum of 12 semester hours provided that a minimum grade of C is achieved in that course. Departments will determine if credit awarded is general or course specific. The following equivalents will be considered: School Certificate: same as GCE with at least two passes at the principal level of the Higher School Certificate. Certificate of matriculation from recognized universities. International Baccalaureate with at least two subjects at the higher level. English Language Scores: (TOEFL) - Test of English Foreign Language Internet-Based Test: Overall Score: 88 with a minimum score of 21 in each of the four areas and a TWE of at least 5. (IELTS) - International English Language Testing System (Academic): Overall score: 6.5 with 6.0 on Writing Band. (CAEL) - Canadian Academic English Language Assessment: Overall score: 70.
