Standard is a faster pace program which prepares students for their intended undergraduate program.

Who is this program for?

Standard is a university preparation program for students who have strong results in year 11 or 12 but have not met the entry requirements for the Transition Program.

Commerce

There are two Commerce Streams designed for students intending to study a Commerce Degree with The UNSW Business School. Students wishing to undertake a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies should undertake the Commerce Actuarial Stream.

Commerce: for students intending to study Business, Accounting, Economics and Arts.
Commerce Actuarial: for students with higher mathematical ability and intending to study Actuarial Studies.

Year 11 or Year 12 (or equivalent). To be eligible for entry, students must be at least 16 years of age at the time they commence a UNSW Foundation Studies program. English Requirements - Minimum IELTS Requirement: 6.0 Writing 5.0 (other sub-scores 5.0); TOEFL (paper based): 537 TWE 4.0; TOEFL (internet iBT): 75 Writing 14; Cambridge Advanced English: 169 Writing 154 (other sub-scores 154); Pearson Test of English: 50 Writing 38 (other sub-scores 38); UNSW Institute of Languages: C Writing D; O-Level English: B (O-Level) C (AS-Level); HKDSE English: 3 Writing 2. Extended foundation: Senior 3 (Gao San): 65% avg in main academic subjects, Senior = 2 (Gao Er): 65% avg in main academic subjects. Standard Plus: Senior 3 (Gao San): 70% avg in main academic subjects, Senior 2 (Gao Er): 70% avg in main academic subjects. Standard: Senior 3 (Gao San): 80% avg in main academic subjects, Senior 2 (Gao Er) 80% avg in main academic subjects. Transition: Gaokao - 60% minimum average.
