The Standard Foundation Studies Program is a faster pace program which provides a pathway to a diploma or UNSW degree for students who did not meet the academic or English language entry requirements.

Who is this program for?

The Standard Program is a pre-university program for students who have strong results in year 11 or 12 but have not met the entry requirements for the Transition Program and need support in building English and critical thinking skills for University.

Our teaching style follows university practice with lectures and tutorials. Most tutorial classes have about 18 students, so you will receive the attention you need to succeed. You will also participate in class activities which help develop your presentation skills and give you greater confidence in speaking English.

Overview

All streams of study are available in Standard, Standard Plus and Extended Foundation Studies Programs. The Transition Program offers all streams of study except Arts. Transition Program students who are planning to study an Art & Social Sciences degree should choose either the Commerce or the Design Stream. In most cases, students study a total of 48 or 50 units in their chosen stream.

Transition students who are planning to study an Art & Social Sciences degree should choose either the Commerce or the Design & Architecture Stream.

Progression to UNSW

When you successfully complete your pathway program, and meet the grade point average (GPA) and English language requirements, you will gain entry to your chosen UNSW bachelors degree. If you are studying Foundation Studies and do not meet the GPA required to enter first year, you may have the option to complete a Diploma Program before progressing to second year at UNSW.
