University of Colorado Denver’s STEM Education MA with a concentration in science education prepares licensed practicing teachers to think critically about their contexts, their learners and the nature of science education from a research-oriented perspective. Graduates are positioned to be leaders in their communities, and in diverse schools.

In this program students will:

Obtain knowledge on science education and pedagogy.

Apply the latest theories in experiential science.

Gain skills in strategic teaching.

The degree is part of CU Denver’s Personalized Professional Master’s Degree?. Join an innovative program that provides courses to deepen your expertise in the field of science education. At the same time, this Personalized Professional Master’s Degree allows you to customize your curriculum by selecting up to half of the credits of your program from courses outside your main area of focus according to your own needs and interests. The applicant has earned a bachelor’s degree in the US or has successfully completed a minimum of 2 semesters (a minimum of 12 credits) of full-time study in a graduate-level master’s program at an accredited institution in the US and obtained a “B” (3.00) cumulative GPA or higher. The applicant obtains a composite score of 75 or above on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL, iBT) (minimum subscores of 15 in Reading, 15 in Listening, 19 in Speaking, and 20 in Writing) or a composite score of 6.5 or above on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (minimum subscores of 5.5 in each area).
