The minimum requirement for completion of a Bachelor of Science with a Joint Major in Chemistry and Physics is 126 credit hours.

PHYS 307-3 (Selected Topics in Environmental Physics) may not be used as Physics credit toward any Physics major, minor, or joint major.

Chemistry is the fundamental science that deals with the nature of substances and the changes occurring in them. Chemical reactions are the basis of all life. Everything we are or do depends in one way or another on chemistry. A major or minor in chemistry or minor in biochemistry prepares you for a variety of careers in industry, education, ecology, and public service, or for graduate study and research in chemistry and many related fields.

Chemistry is committed to offering a curriculum that meets the accreditation guidelines of the Canadian Society for Chemistry. While specialization in a number of sub-disciplines is possible, the Chemistry B.Sc. at UNBC provides the necessary background and understanding for students to tackle any job within the realm of the working chemist. In addition, the courses offered will serve as preparation for students that are contemplating advanced studies, whether they are at the post-graduate level in Chemistry or in other disciplines such as Medicine, Pharmacy, or Veterinary Medicine. Chemistry is also fundamental to a number of other disciplines including Geology, Forestry, and Biology. In addition to the chemistry stream, the program is offering a minor in Biochemistry, which compliments the life science programs. As well, a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BSc Program) is now being offered to compliment the Chemistry Program.

Students who complete their studies at an appropriate high school and/or recognized post-secondary institution will be considered for admission. Students must also have a Graduation Certificate - Academic Senior Middle School. English Language Scores: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 90 or higher in the internet-based test, with not less than 20 in each of the Reading, Listening, Writing or Speaking components; Score of at least 230 in the computer based or at least 570 in the paper based test. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic score of at least 6.5 overall, with not less than 6.0 in any of the four modules. MELAB score of 80, with a minimum 3 on the Speaking Rating Scale. CAEL (Canadian Academic English Language) or the CAEL CE Assessment score of at least 70, with no subtest below 60. A grade of B or better on Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE). PTE (Pearson Test of English - Academic): 65 overall score, with 60 reading, 60 writing, 60 listening, and 60 speaking.
