Geography is the science of place and space on earth. Geographers study both the spatial aspects of human existence and the physical phenomena and processes that form our environment. Geographers make critical contributions to knowledge and human society through study of the linkages between human activity and natural systems. Our broad-based program provides students with training in both the social and physical science of geography, as well as in techniques such as GIS and remote sensing that are critical to answering geographic questions.

Completion of first-year requirements including 1.0 course from the following with a minimum mark of 60% in the course(s) taken: Geography 1100 Fundamentals of Geography, 1300A/B Intro to the Physical Environment, 1400F/G Intro to the Human Environment, 1500F/G Environment & Development Challenges, 2131A/B Natural Environment, 2153A/B Environment, Economy, & Society, Earth Sciences 1022A/B, 1023A/B, Environmental Science 1021F/G, Biology 1001A, 1002B, 1201A, 1202B.

Applicants must complete the full International Baccalaureate Diploma including each of the following to be considered for admission: Completion of the entire Diploma including the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay; Passes in a minimum of 6 subjects of which 3 must be at the Higher Level; A minimum grade total of 28 including points awarded for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge; No mark less than 4 on any individual course; Prerequisites for your program as specified by Western. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Minimum score required on the TOEFL is 550 on the paper based with a 5 on the TWE, and 83 on the internet-based tests with no score below 20; Pearson Test of English Academic: A minimum overall score of 58 is required with no score less than 56; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): A minimum overall score of 80 is required with no score less than 78; International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0; CanTEST: A minimum overall score of 4.0 is required with no part less than 4.0; CAEL: A minimum overall score of 60 is required with no part less than 60.
